Royal Ascot 2016 Hospitality - International stars targeted for meeting

Royal Ascot step up international recruitment at Dubai

Royal Ascot’s Head of International Recruitment, Nick Smith, was at one of the world’s biggest race meetings on Saturday as the stars lined-up for the Dubai World Cup Night. Smith would have been delighted with some of the performances as he steps up his efforts ahead of Royal Ascot 2016.

Royal Ascot has a strong history of attracting the biggest global stars from France, USA, Australia, Japan and Hong Kong. In 2015 the likes of Acapulco, Undrafted and Solow claimed so of the big races for the international raiders.

Australian superstar sprinter Buffering produced one of the finest performances of the evening in the Group 1 Al Quoz Sprint, his seventh win at the highest level, now Smith is keen to bring him to Royal Ascot.

Smith told The Racing Post: “It’s tremendous to have Buffering back in the picture. They were keen on Ascot back in the winter and I’m in contact with his trainer Robert Heathcote.

“He could be one of several flying over from Hong Kong, where there is a Group 1 sprint on May 1, along with Chautauqua and Mongolian Saturday.”

International stars on Smith’s radar for Royal Ascot 2016

Smith also indicated that there are several other superstars on his radar ahead of the Royal Meeting.

Hong Kong star sprinter Listenin’tome could only finish in sixth place behind Buffering on Saturday evening, but is another who is being targeted, with Smith saying: “Not Listenin’tome looked in the wrong place on the track and is better than that and I’ll be following up on the Hong Kong horses.”

Smith then went on to add: “I met Enebish Ganbat, trainer of Mongolian Saturday, again in Dubai and he’s keen on running in both sprints.

“Tepin is on the track for the Queen Anne, where she could clash with ex-Aussie star Vancouver and Solow. A Shin Hikari is confirmed for the Prince of Wales’s stakes and there are lots of other Aussies in the mix, such as Japonisme, Press Statement, The Quarterback and Exosphere.”

Let’s hope to see even more of the best international horses competing at Royal Ascot 2016!
