What is the dress code for Royal Ascot Hospitality in 2027?
Royal Ascot is an annual event that holds plenty of prestige, and it also has a strict dress code. Its dress code does differ from enclosure to enclosure, and below we look at the dress code for each of the enclosures.
Royal Enclosure:
Gentlemen – Male guests can wear grey, black or navy morning dress, a waistcoat and tie (no cravats), a black or grey top hat, as well as black shoes, worn with socks that cover the ankle. Top hats can be removed in a restaurant, a private club, a private box, or in the facility’s terrace, balcony, or garden, as well as an enclosed external area inside the Royal Enclosure Garden.
Boys aged 13 to 16 should wear a jacket or suit with a shirt and tie, whilst boys aged 12 or younger should dress smartly, but no jacket or tie needs to be worn.
Ladies – Ladies can wear dresses and skirts that must fall just above the knee or longer, tops and dresses should have straps of one inch or more, a jacket, a pashmina, trouser suits that are to be of full length and have a matching colour and material. Hats can be worn, but all headpieces and fascinators are to have a base of 4 inches (10cm) or greater in diameter.
Also note that dresses or tops worn underneath a jacket or pashmina must comply with the dress code, whilst halter neck, strapless, off the shoulder, and spaghetti straps are strictly not permitted. Midriffs must be covered.
Girls aged 10 to 16 are to dress for a formal occasion, and a smart summer dress is suggested. Hats, fascinators, and headpieces are not compulsory.
Queen Anne Enclosure:
Gentlemen – Male guests must wear a collared suit and tie, jackets and trousers are to be of a matching colour and pattern, socks must be worn at all times and should cover the ankles, whilst jeans, chinos, and trainers are not acceptable. Bow ties and cravats are also not acceptable.
Boys aged 13 to 16 are to wear a jacket or a suit with a shirt and tie, whilst boys who are aged 12 or under are to dress smartly, but no jacket or tie is required.
Ladies – Female guests are advised to wear formal dress, but no strapless/sheer strap tops or dresses (including off the shoulder and bardot), a hat, fascinator, or headpiece should be worn at all times, whilst trousers must be full length and comply with guidelines. Midriffs should be covered, whilst shorts are not permitted.

Village Enclosure:
Gentlemen – For male guests, suits are not required, but you are asked to wear a jacket, full length trousers, and a collared shirt. Ties are to be worn at all times, with bow ties and cravats also permitted. Socks must be worn at all times and must cover the ankle. Jeans and trainers are not acceptable.
Ladies – Ladies are to dress in formal attire, whilst a hat, headpiece, or fascinator must be worn at all times. Strapless, sheer dresses and tops are not permitted and should follow the guidelines, whilst trouser suits must be full length, whilst jumpsuits must fall below the knee and adhere to the regulations regarding straps. Also, midriffs are to be covered, and shorts are not acceptable.
