Having secured a good draw, Robert Cowell’s star was given a wonderful ride by Martin Harley. Entering the final furlong the French-trained Rangali stormed through to lead. But Harley timed his move to perfection and run down his opponent in the shadow of the post.
It was the second Group One career of Goldream’s career after his success in-front of guests enjoying the Royal Ascot hospitality packages earlier this year.
After the race Cowell said “It’s a big achievement to win two Group 1s in a year with a sprinter as nothing normally goes right. But well done to Martin Harley, who got the horse on the line when it needed to be.”

It was a day that was dominated by the British and Irish trained horses. Epsom Derby hero Golden Horn cemented his place as one the best three-year-old’s of all-time as he won the days feature race the Qatar Prix De L’Arc De Triomphe. Frankie Detorri produced a majestic ride on John Gosden’s stable star as he blew the field away with an electric turn of foot.
After the race Gosden said “When you’re drawn wide like we were, we had to stay wide and run our own race before slotting into the field.
“The plan was to do that to get him in a prominent position and it worked perfectly in the end. Frankie has given him a great ride – he rides this track quite beautifully.”
While Dettori said the colt was “the best horse I’ve ridden.”
