“Ascot has always been in the back of our mind” – Wayne Hawkes
Asked if Royal Ascot could feature in next year’s plans, trainer Wayne Hawkes said: “Definitely. We’ll go to Hong Kong first to see how he travels but Ascot has always been in the back of our mind for the last 12 months. We’ll see how he handles the Hong Kong trip first.
“It was a super effort and Tommy was cool, calm and collected. When he came to them at the corner it was a fantastic feeling. He’s the best I’ve ever touched, that’s for sure.
“He’ll go to Flemington next for the Darley Classic and who knows? He might go and meet the Queen. He’s had a ripper of preparation but the difference is he’s fully matured now.”
The prospect of another top Australian sprinter coming to the meeting is an exciting one for Royal Ascot hospitality guests in 2016.
