Royal Ascot winner Amazing Maria continued her fine form with a victory in the Group 1 Prix Rothschild at Deauville on Sunday. The four-year-old produced one of the shocks of the week at Royal Ascot with her 25/1 success in the Duke of Cambridge Stakes, a thrilling encounter for guests enjoying the superb Royal Ascot hospitality packages.
In her two subsequent David O’Meara’s filly has proved that victory was no fluke.
She followed her Royal Ascot success with a victory in the Group 1 Qipco Falmouth Stakes at Newmarket.
On Sunday Amazing Maria clashed with fellow Royal Ascot winner Ervedya. The star French filly was well fancied for the contest and was sent off as the odds-on favourite.
But when jockey Olivier Peslier asked the question of David O’Meara’s charge she responded in superb style, sweeping past Ervedya and recording a comfortable one and three quarter length victory.
After the race O’Meara said “She looked like she won pretty comfortably today. She is very versatile,”
“Today there was no real plan going out. Olivier knows Deauville much better than me, I’ve never had a runner here before. I just told him to go out and try and win.”
